Ministry of Municipality destroys 28 vegetable consignments for violations – The Peninsula Qatar

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality destroyed 28 consignments weighing 105.74 tonnes during October for violating the Agricultural Quarantine Law and pest infection.


Agricultural Quarantine Offices inspected 5,849 consignments weighing 142,362 tonnes of imported agricultural consignments (vegetable consignments and production ingredients), at all customs ports in the country.


Agricultural quarantine is the first line of defence to protect plants from agricultural pests and is a preventive measure, which aims to protect the plant wealth in the country from the risk of pest infestation from outside the country. It requires that all plants, agricultural products and any other materials subject to plant health regulations be subject to plant quarantine procedures and other agricultural production inputs should conform to applicable conditions and specifications.
