Four SpaceX astronauts returned to Earth Sunday from the International Space Station (ISS), after spending more than 160 days in space.

The capsule that carried them landed at 3am local time in the Gulf of Mexico off Panama City, Florida.

NASA reported that the four astronauts- three Americans and one Japanese- were in good health.

“We have trained to retrieve the crews day and night,” Steve Stitch, director of the NASA Commercial Aviation Program, said in a statement.

The crew last November became the first astronauts on a “operational” mission to be transported to the International Space Station by the company founded by Elon Musk, which has established itself as a key partner for NASA.

The mission marks the longest time astronauts have spent in space on an ‘American-built spacecraft’ according to CNN.
