Countdown begins: UAE’s Hope Probe moved to launch pad – Gulf Today

As the countdown starts for the launch of the UAE's first mission to Mars, from the Tanegashima Island in Japan, The Hope Probe is now ready for its 7-month-long journey to the red planet covering 493,500,000km, according to Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC).

The UAE's Mars mission has reached another milestone, as the rocket that will carry the Hope Probe into space is moved onto the launch pad.

There are 12 hours left since the launch of the missile carrying the "Hope Probe" on its flight to Mars.

The Emirates Mars Mission, "Hope Probe“ or "Al Amal“ in Arabic, is scheduled to liftoff early on Monday morning from Japan's Tanegashima Space Centre and begin a seven-month journey to the Red Planet. The probe is expected to entre Mars' orbit in 2021, coinciding with the UAE's 50th anniversary.

The rocket is scheduled to take off on July 20, 1.58am UAE time from launch pad 1 at the Tanegashima Space Centre in Japan's Tanegashima Island.
