CAIRO – 8 February 2021: Egypt succeeded in exporting the first shipments of the new season of Egyptian oranges to the Brazilian market, in cooperation with the Brazilian Embassy in Cairo, Minister of Trade and Industry stated Monday. This came in implementation of the free trade agreement signed between Egypt and the countries of the Mercosur Group, which includes Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, according to Gamea. She pointed to the importance of this agreement in opening new markets for Egyptian products in the markets of South American countries, praising the continuous cooperation between the Egyptian and Brazilian governments to enhance joint commercial and economic relations. For his part, Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs, Ibrahim El-Sigini, explained that a Brazilian technical mission visited Cairo last year to negotiate the final import of Egyptian citrus fruits for its markets, during which it inspected a number of Egyptian citrus farms, accompanied by specialists from phytosanitary in the Egyptian agricultural quarantine, as part of the preparation for opening the Brazilian market to Egyptian citrus exports.
