Egypt, Tunisia to Hold Summit on Regional Issues on Saturday

The Egyptian presidency announced that an Egyptian-Tunisian summit will be held in Cairo on Saturday.

The meeting will be held between Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi and his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saeid, who had arrived in Cairo on Friday on an official three-day visit.

This marks his first visit to Egypt since becoming president.

The pair will discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as means to boost bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields, especially on the security, economic and investment levels, said presidency spokesman Bassam Rady.

The Tunisian presidency said, in a statement Thursday, that the visit comes "within the framework of linking bridges of communication and consolidating the year of consultation and coordination between the leaderships of the two countries.“

The two sides will discuss "establishing new visions and perceptions that reinforce the distinguished path of cooperation existing between Tunisia and Egypt in a way that meets the legitimate aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for stability and development.“

Tunisia's Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Support, Ali Al-Kali, said in statements to the Middle East News Agency that on the commercial level, Tunisia's exports to Egypt in 2019 amounted to nearly $60 million, while imports recorded nearly $500 million
