Haya Karima initiative to develop Egyptian countryside biggest project to follow UN SDGs: WYF

CAIRO – 17 July 2021: Egypt's World Youth Forum hailed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's initiative, Haya Karima, to develop the countryside as the "biggest project that follows the sustainable development goals" of the UN. "Egypt has launched Haya Karima convention under the auspicious of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi. The convention celebrates the initiative the president took to innovate and help people in need of better living conditions all over Egypt," the WYF said on its Facebook page. "With Haya Karima, Egypt has the biggest project that follows the sustainable development goals set by the UN in 2015," the forum added. Sisi launched the project on Thursday in the Cairo International Stadium with the attendance of ministers, public figures and thousands of citizens. Sisi, during a meeting with businessmen, reviewed the targets of the project, which aims to develop 4,584 villages in all governorates, housing 58 percent of the Egyptian population at a cost of LE 700 billion, the presidency said. The project focuses on upgrading the social, health, educational, economic and housing levels as well as all sectors of services provided to those villages.
