In Principle, Egypt’s Senate approves statute bill

In principle, Egypt's Senate, chaired by Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq, approved the draft statute of the Senate.

The new approved regulating bill includes 293 articles that were drafted in accordance with Articles No. 118 and 254 of the 2014 Constitution and legal materials regulating the work of the Senate to avoid any formal or substantive violation.

The approval was granted in the plenary session that was held on Sunday. Lawmaker Rasha Wessim Abdel Rahman took the constitutional oath as deputy speaker of the Senate.

On October 18, 2020, the Senate witnessed the inaugural session, during which Abdel-Razeq was elected as the Speaker, besides electing two deputies.
