Technical experts from Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia resume GERD negotiations, Monday

CAIRO – 4 December 2020:   Technical experts from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia are expected to meet on Monday as a result to what was agreed upon at the meeting of the Foreign and Irrigation Ministers to hold a new round of negotiations between the three countries, which will extend for one week.

This negotiations round will be held with the aim of discussing the controversial points of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Observers and experts appointed by the African Union, are expected to attended the negotiations.

Another six-party ministerial meeting, chaired by South Africa, is expected to be held at the end of this week to consider the outcomes of the tripartite negotiations.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hafez told Youm7 that Minister Sameh Shokry and Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Aty will participate in the new negotiations round on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) taking place in the evening of Sunday.
