MIS-C, or Multisystem inflammatory sydrome in children, is a condition where different parts of the body can experience inflammation, including the heart, lungs and kidneys. Additionally, several other organs or body parts can be affected such as the brain, skin, eyes, and gastrointestinal organs, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Children with MIS-C can experience a plethora of symptoms, the most common of which is a fever. Other symptoms include gut pain, vomiting, diarrhea, neck pain, rash, bloodshot eyes, or intense fatigue. Experts claim that the cause of MIS-C is unknown. However, doctors and specialists claim that the underlying reason MIS-C affects children is from being infected with the coronavirus, or even just being around someone with COVID-19.
