Lebanese minister seeks economic boost with Iraq visit

Lebanon’s Industry Minister George Boushekian returned from his trip to Iraq today, where he sought to gain economic opportunities for crisis-stricken Lebanon. 

Briefing President Michel Aoun, Boushekian said the Lebanese and Iraqi industry ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation. They specifically agreed to exchange expertise on manufacturing, the official National News Agency reported. 

Lebanon is contending with a devastating economic crisis marked by fuel and electricity shortages, price hikes and the depreciation of the Lebanese pound.
