The Wall Street Journal reported that FIS and Global Payments held unsuccessful talks to merge in a deal that would have been valued at $70 billion.  While the deal didn't end up going through, it's further proof of the rush of dealmaking that has occurred in recent months, coupled with further consolidation in the payments space.
