Abu Dhabi roads toll starts today

The UAE News web report: Abu Dhabi on January 02, 2020 started roads toll system – Darb – and there will be fine ranging from Dh 100 to Dh10,000 for violators.

It is important to know what changes are being implemented in Abu Dhabi for motorists starting from the new year 2021. These include new radars and traffic toll system.

Starting Friday, the new radars will notify drivers if they fail to buckle up in the car. Notifications will also be sent by SMS if a driver is found using a hand-held device.

These are part of a slew of changes that have begun to be implemented over Abu Dhabi's transport network during the last few weeks.

In fact, the most notable among these traffic system changes will come into effect tomorrow (January 2). The Darb road tolls will charge motorists for crossing between Abu Dhabi island and the mainland during weekday peak hours. The introduction of the road tolls follows a year in which major changes to the traffic network were put on hold by the Abu Dhabi Government as a means of relief for residents burdened
