Aya Al Deeb, Staff Reporter The Supreme Federal Court upheld an appellate court verdict obliging a company to pay a former financial manager who worked for it Dhs400,400, an end-of-service reward and a return ticket to his home country. Details date back to an earlier time when the employee filed a criminal labour lawsuit against the company, indicating that he worked for it for 31 years, in return for a monthly salary of Dhs26,125 and that the company terminated his services due to reaching the retirement age, in violation of the law. He added that the company refused to pay his dues, Dhs600,325. The court of first instance obligated the company to pay the employee Dhs400,400, besides a travel ticket to his home country, and related fees and expenses. The company appealed the ruling, affirming that it paid the employee the end of service bonus, even though he had taken a loan, on the basis of which Dhs500 were cut from his salary. The company requested the court to task an expert to determine the employee and the company’s dues but the court rejected the request and the appeal.
