Dubai sets up committee to develop new district in creative economy drive

The Dubai government has set up a committee to develop a new creative district, part of the emirate's efforts to reach its goal of becoming the “capital of the global creative economy” by 2025.

The committee to develop the new Al Quoz Creative Zone will be headed by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the government's media office said in a statement on Thursday (April 15).

The plan is to make the new district a hub and incubator for the creative industries including publishing, writing, cinema, music, video, museums, archives, and video gaming.

Al Quoz Creative Zone adds to the emirate's creative economy that already has established infrastructure in hubs including Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City, and Dubai Design District.
