UAE accounts for 88% of GCC's $1.2bn investments in Sub-Sahara Africa

The UAE has represented 88% of the GCC's $1.2 billion investments in Sub-Sahara Africa between January 2016 to July 2021, as shown by a newly released whitepaper issued by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and commissioned by Dubai Chamber. The whitepaper is based on a survey of 200 business leaders from various economic sectors in sub-Saharan Africa, according to a press release on Monday. Around 90% of surveyed executives forecast that fintech would witness the most growth in 2022, followed by healthcare and agriculture and food. Published prior to the Global Business Forum Africa 2021, set to be held on 13-14 October at Expo 2020 Dubai, the new whitepaper identifies fintech, healthcare, agriculture, and e-commerce as high-potential sectors to foster the GCC-Africa business exchange.
