Egypt allocates EGP 7.1 bln for service, commodity authorities: Finance minister

The state appropriated EGP 7.1 billion for service and commodity authorities as urgent allocations in September to boost their capabilities to meet the needs of the public, especially priority care groups, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said on Saturday.

The General Authority for Supply Commodities received EGP 4 billion, and EGP 127 million were allocated to import 530 tonnes of wheat.

Some EGP 160 million were provided for the Health Ministry to disburse bonuses for workers in quarantine hospitals.

The allocations also included EGP 1.4 billion for the General Authority of Roads and Bridges, and EGP 21.4 million for the Civil Aviation Ministry to cover the costs of medics and medical supply shipments headed to 20 African countries to counter the COVID-19 repercussions.
