Egypt to start relocating gov’t employees to New Administrative Capital in July 2021

Government employees will be transferred to the Egyptian New Administrative Capital (NAC) starting July 2021, said Saleh El-Sheikh, the president of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration. 

El-Sheikh stressed that employees must hold certain qualifications to be included in the country's relocation plan, including commitment and discipline.

The candidates, from the state's administrative structure, pegged to move to the NAC have been receiving training programmes since October, El-Sheikh said in an interview with the privately-owned CBC Extra News Wednesday.

In August, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi instructed the government to train its employees on modern scientific methods of management while working in the new capital.

The president has been calling for the start of a new era of governmental work, one marked by quality services to the public as part of the plan to build a modern Egyptian state.

Earlier this year, the government announced that up to 52,300 employees are planned to be relocated to the 700-square-kilometre NAC, which was launched by El-Sisi in 2015.

Government offices were due to be relocated there by mid-2020, but the step was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
