Oman’s share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3, 714. 49 points, down 0. 07 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0. 21 per cent at 529. 66 points. Voltamp Energy, up 5. 56 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman & Emirates Holding, down 4. 17 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Sovereign Sukuk Bond was most active in terms of turnover. A total number of 633 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4 million, with more than 13. 4 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 14 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR 78, 000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR41, 000 followed by foreign investors for OMR37, 000 worth of shares. Financial Index closed at 5, 752. 96 points, up by 0. 08 per cent. Al Omaniya Financial Service, HSBC Bank Oman and Bank Muscat were up 1. 39 per cent, 0. 99 per cent and 0. 51 per cent respectively.
