Microsoft ‘investigates’ platforms as Teams, Outlook outages disrupt thousands of users
Software giant Microsoft said on Wednesday that it is looking into issues affecting multiple platforms that include Outlook and Teams, following outage complaints from users worldwide.
Data from outage tracking website Downdetector showed that outage complaints in the UAE spiked after 10am on Wednesday, with more than 1,000 reports recorded between 11:09am and 12:09pm.
Outage complaints were raised mainly from users in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There were also more than 900 complaints in Japan and 3,900 incidents in India, according to other media reports.
“We are investigating issues impacting multiple Microsoft 365 services,” Microsoft said on Twitter.
“We’ve identified a potential networking issue and are reviewing telemetry to determine the next troubleshooting steps.”
During the outage, users said they were not able to join meetings on Teams and access emails on Outlook.
Microsoft is among the technology conglomerates that have recently announced massive layoffs affecting thousands of employees.
The company said this month it would trim its workforce by 10,000 employees.
On Tuesday, it said that sales and profits had dropped during the last three months of 2022. Net profit for the fourth quarter of 2022 stood at $16.4 billion, down 12% compared to a year ago.

New in Microsoft Teams, Pronouns in the profile card
Currently preview, if an Admin has turned on pronouns, users can then optionally add their Pronouns.
Pronouns are also coming to the profile card in Outlook.
