‎Germany considers tapping Saudi Arabia’s economic position: Ambassador

Germany is studying how to benefit from Saudi Arabia’s economic position, especially in the production of hydrogen, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing German Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dieter Lamlé.

He added that Germany is keen to provide and support Saudi Arabia with technology, and link the Kingdom to its existing great potentials, in addition to benefiting from the available and supportive climatic conditions for hydrogen production.

Germany’s commercial and economic authorities seek to increase the number of German companies in Saudi Arabia by taking advantage of the projects offered through Vision 2030 in various sectors. Currently, 800 German companies are active in the Kingdom.

German companies are spread across Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah, where they work in vital projects, especially petrochemicals, Lamle said.

He added that Germany chose Riyadh among five cities in the world to establish its hydrogen diplomacy offices to follow up the hydrogen strategy in terms of hydrogen production and export.

The ambassador pointed to the geopolitical aspects of producing this important type of renewable energy and presenting reports on global supply and distribution of hydrogen.
