Omani-Saudi consortium wins tender to provide consulting services for first phase of Al Dhahirah integrated economic zone

The integrated economic zone in Al Dhahirah Governorate is located about 20 kilometers from the Rub’ al-Khali border crossing with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the zone is about 100 kilometers away from the Ibri Industrial City project.

The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) has awarded the tender to provide consulting services (design and supervision of infrastructure facilities) for the first phase of Al Dhahirah Governorate’s Integrated Economic Zone (EZAD) to a consortium of two companies, one each from Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The first phase of the project covers an area of 20 square kilometres, of which 6.5 square kilometres will be implemented as a preliminary phase that includes a land port to be managed and operated by Asyad Group.

Engineer Yahya bin Khamis Al Zadjali, advisor to the chairman of OPAZ for Planning, said: “The tender works include the detailed design of the infrastructure facilities, the preparation of the documents for the tender of the construction works, and the supervision of the implementation of the works, the completion of the project, operation and delivery.”
