UAE banks’ investments hit AED 500.1bn in February

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE banks reported a 22.1% increase in their total investments to AED 500.1 billion in February 2021 from AED 409.6 billion during the same month of 2020.

On a monthly basis, the total investments of UAE banks rose by 4.4%, when compared to AED 478.9 billion in January 2021, according to the latest data by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

The UAE banks have invested around AED 287.9 billion in debt securities during February 2021, up 14% from AED 252.6 billion in February 2020.

Meanwhile, the UAE banks' investments in equities decreased by 10.5% to AED 9.4 billion in February 2021 from AED 10.5 billion in the year-ago period.

The banks recorded AED 158.3 billion investments in held-to-maturity securities in February 2021, up 61% from AED 98.3 billion in the corresponding month of 2020.
