The International Institute of Management sheds light on Bahrain’s experience in combating the Coronavirus

The Head of the Department of Innovation and Technology Management at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Dr. McMillan C Durugbo, recently participated in a session that was devoted to presenting the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain in combating the outbreak of the coronavirus. The presentation was made during the participation of the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), as part of the activities of the 90th International Institute for Administrative Sciences (IIAS) conference. The session was titled “Public Governance for Climate Action”, in which Dr. Durugbo delivered the first presentation of the session, entitled: “Innovation from Crises: The Response of the Public Sector During the Outbreak of the Coronavirus.” This presentation is part of the research that was co-authored by Prof. Soud Al Mahamid and Prof. Odeh Al Jayyousi from AGU, as well as a Ph.D. graduate student from the Innovation Management programme at the University, Dr. Lulwa Hassan Budalamah, and Mrs. Batoul Bendi Merad from BIPA. Using the case of Bahrain, the presentation offers lessons extracted from the responses to the COVID-19 and explores the frameworks of the public sector response as a crisis-driven innovation.
