Egypt to receive J&J coronavirus vaccine: Presidential Advisor

CAIRO - 20 June 2021: The African Union and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) will provide about 300 million doses to Africa of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against coronavirus, and Egypt's share will be 25 million doses, said Egyptian Presidential Advisor for Health Affairs Awad Tag El-Din in media remarks on Friday. Johnson & Johnson vaccine is being administered in a single dose, he said, adding that Egypt sought, by all means, to provide as many coronavirus vaccines as possible. On June 7, 2021, Egypt received 500,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac, as part of the state's plan to face the pandemic. It is noted that Egypt is getting 40 million doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine through Covax. Until present, the country got 2.2 million doses of those in addition to two million Sinopharm doses within a deal with China comprising 20 million doses.
