Egyptian doctor infected with COVID-19 days after receiving Chinese Sinopharm vaccine

 

CAIRO – 12 February 2021: Deputy Director of Hawamdiya Isolation Hospital Mustafa Abdel-Wahed in Giza Governorate was infected with coronavirus, few days after he received Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, a source at the hospital told Masrawy on Friday.

 

The source added Abdel-Wahed was tested positive after some symptoms appeared.

 

In a press statement, Abdel-Wahed confirmed that he had contracted the virus days after receiving the Chinese vaccine.

 

The Ministry of Health announced that coronavirus infection is possible even if the patient was vaccinated.

 

  

An official in the High Committee to Confront Coronavirus at the Ministry of Health told Youm7 that the vaccine needs 3 weeks to produce antibodies against, saying “The vaccines do not protect against infection with Coronavirus 100%.”

 

The Ministry of Health also announced detecting 609  new coronavirus cases on Friday, while the number deaths over the last 24 hours registered 42.
