Egypt’s daily coronavirus cases continue to decrease for third day in a row

According to Wednesday's statement by the health ministry, the recorded 1,007 new coronavirus cases brought the total infection tally to 145,590 nationwide since the outbreak began in mid-February

Egypt's daily reported coronavirus cases has been falling for the third consecutive day, as the health ministry recorded 1,007 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, down from 1,119 on Tuesday and 1,277 on Monday.

This comes opposite the rise witnessed in daily infections last weekend. Starting 31 December, and for four consecutive days, the health ministry reported more that 1,400 new cases daily.

According to Wednesday's statement by the health ministry, the recorded 1,007 new coronavirus cases brought the total infection tally to 145,590 nationwide since the outbreak began in mid-February. 

The health ministry also reported 57 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 7,975.

The statement said that 561 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 115,975.
