Egypt’s Health minister, Arab League chief discuss COVID-19 economic repercussions on region

CAIRO - 15 March 2021: Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed discussed, Monday, in a meeting with Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit means to continue extending medical support to Arab countries especially those suffering from economic problems as a result of COVID-19.

Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said Zayed's meeting with Abul Gheit came on the sidelines of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health held via video conference at the Arab League headquarters.

Megahed said minister Zayed hailed efforts exerted by Abul Gheit to promote Arab cooperation.

For his part, Abul Gheit expressed the keenness of the Council of the Arab Ministers of Health to develop the performance of the Arab medical teams to increase their efficiency.

He praised efforts exerted by Zayed to offer support for Arab brethren and health institutions in the aftermath of the pandemic's crisis.

Egypt has started its vaccination campaign in January, starting with the medical teams at quarantine hospitals, for being on top of priority groups in terms of vaccination.
