Egypt’s Ministry of Health to launch COVID-19 vaccine registration website in 4 days

CAIRO – 11 January 2020:  Egypt's Ministry of Health will officially launch a website for COVID-19 registration vaccine within three or four days according to Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Mohamed Abdel Fattah.

He added in statements to Extra News Channel, that all people have the right to register on the site, however, the priority should be given to those suffering from chronic diseases and the elderly.

Abdel Fattah said Egypt was one of the first countries to contract to provide vaccines. He explained that any delay in the vaccination process comes as a result of finishing all preparations and establishing the infrastructure for vaccination centers all over the county's governorates.

The Ministry of Health noted that people under the age of 18 will not be able to obtain the Coronavirus vaccine, as well as pregnant women.

Egypt recorded 993 new coronavirus cases, Sunday upping the total number of confirmed cases to 149,792.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 55 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 8,197.
