Health official on 4th COVID wave: Depends on citizens’ adherence to precautionary measures

CAIRO – 10 June 2021: Expectations of a fourth COVID wave in September “could not be confirmed; however, everything is possible,” Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Population for Preventive Medicine Mohamed Abdel Fattah said. “No one can be sure what will happen the next day,” he said, adding that the question of whether there will be a fourth Coronavirus wave or not depends on the citizens’ abiding by the state’s instructions and precautionary measures as it reduce infection rates, in addition to vaccination. Earlier this month, a member of the Scientific Committee to combat Coronavirus at the Ministry of Health Mohamed el-Nady said that Egypt has passed the peak of the third COVID-19 wave, as the infection rate began to decrease by 20 percent.
