Overview of health aid offered by Egypt to fellow African states

CAIRO – 29 November 2020: The Egyptian national TV aired on Sunday a report about the health aid offered by Egypt to fellow African states.

 

In 2019, Egypt launched an initiative to cure one million hepatitis C patients at 18 African countries. Until present, medical equipment and medicine have been transported to nine of those states offering treatment to 250,000 patients.

 

The first round took place in Chad, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Sudan, and was exclusive to signing memoranda of understanding to carry out the initiative. The second one – launched on October 8 - was in Chad as screening devices were delivered as well as treatment doses that would suffice 3,000 patients.

 

The third round began in Eritrea on November 24 whereas Egypt supplied 1,000 PCR
