The three most common mental health issues in Oman due to COVID-19| Times of Oman

Muscat: Anxiety, trouble sleeping, and depression are among the most common mental health problems faced by locals and expatriates in Oman due to the effects the coronavirus has had on people's lives. A survey conducted by Sultan Qaboos University Hospital showed that 30 percent of participants from the 11 governorates of the country had these issues. "With the onset of the pandemic, we conducted a research study that generally concluded that frontline workers, such as doctors and nurses are among the most vulnerable groups to these issues," said Dr Hamed bin Nasser Al Sinawi, a senior consultant in behavioural medicine at SQUH. "Owing to the high numbers of admissions in hospitals, there were cases of frustration and psychological burnout among medical staff, who had to work for longer hours due to increases in the admission of patients who required medical attention," he added to Oman News Agency (ONA).
