Qatar administers close to 6.8 million COVID-19 vaccines – The Peninsula

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported 158 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, including 32 travellers coming from abroad.

A total of 66 people recovered from COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 364,125.

Some 7,083 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the past 24 hours, and 6,793,081 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program.

MoPH said 1,558,140 booster doses have been administered to date, and 89.4 percent of the total population is now fully vaccinated with two doses. “The support of the community in adhering to the government restrictions and standard COVID-19 precautions, as well as the high vaccination rate, has played a significant role in reaching a plateau of new daily cases,” the Ministry said. However, it is very important that people continue follow the preventive measures.

The Ministry stated that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with COVID-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.
