Active COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia drop sharply as recoveries outpace new infections

Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia recorded on Tuesday 999 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health. The ministry announced 13 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 428,369 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,098. The ministry also reported 1,286 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 412,102. The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 352 followed by the Makkah region with 260 and the Eastern region with 120 infections. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two regions reporting less than 10 infections. According to the ministry, there were 9,169 active cases and 1,358 of them were in critical condition.
