Brazilian P.1 variant can re-infect those who have recovered

A highly transmissible COVID-19 variant that emerged in Brazil, known as P.1, can re-infect those who have recovered from the disease, scientists said on Tuesday.Scientists estimated that P.1 was 1.4 to 2.2 times more transmissible than the initial form of the virus.According to Dr. Nuno Faria, a virologist at Imperial College London, it is too early to say whether the variant's ability to evade immunity from previous infections meant that vaccines also would offer reduced protection against it.Comments Read Next14 hours agoSaudi: LuLu launches ‘Safe Shopping Hours'16 hours agoOman to close all commercial activities by 8:00 PM17 hours agoSaudi records 302 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths18 hours agoUAE shuts 3 businesses for violating Covid-19 guidelines20 hours agoHaj pilgrims must be vaccinated against Covid-1920 hours agoUAE: Companies adopt ‘work from home country' policy21 hours agoUAE reports 2,721 new Covid-19 cases, 15 deaths1 day agoUAE cancels all Ramadan tent permits1 day agoPhilippines reports first cases of Covid-19 South African variant1 day agoBahrain reports 644 new coronavirus cases, 3 deaths
