New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia hit nearly 800 as surge continues

RIYADH —Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia reached nearly 800 for the first time in many months after remaining below the 700-mark for three consecutive days.With the Ministry of Health recording 793 new cases and seven more virus-related deaths on Tuesday, the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom reached 394,169 and the death toll hit 6,711.The Ministry of Health announced that the Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 363 followed by the Makkah region with 154 and the Eastern Province with 112 infections. There were 22 cases each in Al-Qasim and Madinah regions while 21 cases reported in Hail and 20 in Jazan. The ministry also reported 467 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 380,772.According to the ministry, there were 6,686 active cases of which 846 were in critical condition.
