Saudi Arabia did not suspend AstraZeneca vaccine, says health ministry

The Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine is “safe”, Saudi Arabia's Health Ministry spokesman said on Sunday, denying rumours that their use had been halted in the kingdom.

Dr Mohammed Al Abdulaali's comments come after several countries in Europe suspended the use of the drug over fears it could cause blood clots.

Over 2.1 million people have been vaccinated with several approved drugs at 500 medical centres in the kingdom, the spokesman said.

Also on Sunday, AstraZeneca Plc said that a review of its data has shown no evidence that the vaccine causes blood-clots.
