Covid-19 update: UAE reports highest daily rise in infections
The UAE has reported 3,506 additional Covid-19 infections on January 20, its highest ever daily spike in new cases since the pandemic broke out early last year.
The new cases were detected as a result of 162,945 tests conducted to screen for the virus.
The second highest daily rise in infections, equalling 3,491, was recorded on January 19.
The health ministry also confirmed 3,746 recoveries and six deaths.
The case count in the UAE has since risen to 263,729. This tally includes 235,421 patients who have noe recovered and 762 fatalities.
