Over 3.48 million UAE residents have received the Covid-19 vaccine, a top official has said. This constitutes about 44.89 per cent of the "target", according to Dr Farida Al Hosni, official spokesperson for the UAE health sector. More importantly, 57.66 per cent of residents aged over 60 years old have received the jab. Addressing the weekly Covid-19 media briefing, the official said that 5.66 million vaccine doses have been provided, with a distribution rate of 57.31 per 100 people. "We confirm the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines that were approved in the country, especially for the elderly and people with chronic diseases. So we advise and encourage everyone to take the vaccine."
