Middle East, Africa power industry tenders down 14pc in Q3

The power sector tenders activity in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region witnessed a slowdown during the third quarter with around 238 tenders announced, down 14 per cent compared to the last four-quarter average of 277, according to GlobalData's power database.

 

Looking at tenders by country, South Africa led the activity in Q3 2020 with 102 tenders and a share of 42.9%, up 27.3% over the previous quarter and up 21% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Oman with 17 tenders and a share of 7.1% and Namibia with 15 tenders and a share of 6.3% during the quarter.

 

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in MEA power tenders activity during Q3, with 77 tenders,
