MHT inks two pacts to bolster leather, cotton craft industries
Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on Sunday signed two agreements with the Industrial Innovation Academy for innovation in the leather and cotton industry.
The ministry is collaborating with the academy to revitalise and safeguard the country’s treasured leather and cotton industries, aligning them with the Oman Vision 2040 to eventually bolster the nation’s economy.
Under the terms of these agreements, an array of extensive craft development studies will be conducted to ensure the sustainability of these time-honoured art forms.
The comprehensive study will shed light on investment prospects within the leather and cotton industries, spanning various craft and industrial domains. This endeavour seeks to promote local value addition and provide a platform for innovative projects that empower the youth. MHT emphasises that by effectively utilising these industries, both directly and indirectly, their potential can be fully realised.
The agreements were signed by H E Ibrahim bin Said al Kharusi, Undersecretary for Heritage in MHT, and Dr Ayman bin Abdullah al Fudaili, CEO of the Industrial Innovation Academy.
