Empower awards AED 164m contract for building Zabeel cooling plant

UAE – Mubasher: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has awarded a contract worth AED 164 million to build a district cooling plant in Zabeel in Dubai, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

Upon its completion, the plant's total production capacity will reach 50,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT).

With the first phase to be completed in the first half (H1) of 2021, the plant will be connected to the district cooling plant in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) to deliver total cooling energy of 112,000 RT.

The CEO of Empower, Ahmad bin Shafar, said that this contract is the second one signed by Empower within two months for building new district cooling plants, as the company has awarded a number of contracts to construct the fourth cooling plant in the Business Bay in Dubai, with a cooling capacity
