Gigantic oil drill-shaped sculpture unveiled for Expo 2020

Dubai's Public Art Programme on Sunday unveiled an enormous iridescent, oil drill-shaped sculpture for Expo 2020.

Kuwaiti artist Monira Al Qadiri along with 10 other leading artists from the UAE, the region and the world has launched the sculpture.

The other 10 artists include Hamra Abbas, Afra Al Dhaheri, Shaikha Al Mazrou, Abdullah Al Saadi, Asma Belhamar, Olafur Eliasson, Nadia Kaabi-Linke, Khalil Rabah, Yinka Shonibare and Haegue Yang.

Dubai's Public Art Programme has planned 11 contemporary artworks which will form a creative journey around Expo 2020's public spaces.

They will live on as part of the future city of District 2020.

The UAE's  first-ever curated permanent open-air art exhibition it will leave a lasting impact as part of the next World Expo's legacy.

It will further boost Dubai's position on the global cultural map.

The Art works will provide an exciting addition to the UAE's vibrant and thriving artistic scene.

Expo 2020 is set to begin from Oct.1  and will run up to March 31, 2022.

Visitors from every corner of the globe are invited to discover a wide range of cultural and artistic initiatives dedicated to broadening horizons and bringing people.
