Petrofac completes handover of key Kuwait refinery package
Petrofac, a leading global provider of oilfield services, said it has achieved the provisional turnover of facilities (PTOF) for Kuwait National Petroleum Company's (KNPC) Mina Abdullah Refinery Package 3 (MAB1).
Â
Petrofac said it is delivering the Clean Fuels Project in Kuwait in a joint venture with South Korea's Samsung Engineering Co Ltd and CB&I Nederland BV (now McDermott International).
Â
The project has involved the expansion and upgrading of KNPC's Mina Abdullah and Mina Al Ahmadi refineries, to develop an integrated complex, increasing processing capacity to 800,000 barrels per day.Â
Â
The production of a new generation of ultra-low sulphur fuel products will boost Kuwait's global position in the industry.
Â
Prashant Bokil, JV Project Director, said: "This significant milestone marks the safe completion and handover of MAB1 facilities to KNPC. I would like to thank everyone involved, from the various office locations and at site. The pandemic has been a major challenge, everyone has been focused on keeping people safe and healthy, whilst ensuring the project continues to be executed effectively."
Â
"There have been many obstacles, which all parties have worked collaboratively to successfully overcome. We are now supporting our client to successfully commission the balance of the units," he noted.Â
