PROJECTS: Kuwait to award $900mln oil pollution mitigation deals

Kuwait will soon award contracts for oil pollution clean-up to three local companies worth nearly $900 million, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Sunday.  Al-Sayer General Trading & Contracting, Khalid Al-Kharafi Group and the Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction & Contracting have won the deals for the clean-up operation in North and South Kuwait, the Arabic language daily Alanba said. The state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), which had issued the tenders, has requested approval for the contract-awarding by the Central Agency for Public Tenders, the paper said, quoting KOC sources. “The tenders included five main packages involving treatment of the oil-polluted soil in North and South Kuwait following the (1990-1991) Iraqi occupation,” the paper said elaborating on the contracts. (By Staff Writer; Editing by Anoop Menon)([email protected]) Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only.
