Engie hands over second energy efficiency project to Tarshid

Engie, a French multinational utility company, has handed over its second energy efficiency project - Medical City of King Saud University - to Saudi national energy services company (Tarshid).

The MCKSU Project was awarded by Tarshid to Engie in December 2019 and was officially handed over in December last year.

After concluding a detailed audit of the facilities, Engie has successfully completed the implementation of 11 energy savings measures to reduce energy usage and guarantee energy efficiency for the Medical City of King Saud University (MCKSU) in Riyadh by over 31%, equivalent to 43 GWh per year, for 10 years.

Engie leveraged its global experience in energy efficiency to provide innovative and cost-effective energy solutions to the project's 8 hospital buildings which occupy an area of over 322,000 sq m.

Efficiency measures include the retrofitting of ventilation and air conditioning systems, lighting, and the implementation of smart solutions, all of which contribute to 30,000 tonnes of emissions being avoided annually. Engie will continue operating and maintaining the implemented energy savings solutions for 10 years, consistently monitoring and controlling the hospital facilities consumption through a state-of-art energy control room located in Engie's facilities in Riyadh.

Tarshid's CEO Waled Alghreri stated that this project comes as one
