Dubai saves 5.4 TWh of electricity, 9.9bn gallons of water in 2020

Dubai has saved 11.8% of electricity consumption, equivalent to 5.4 terawatt-hours (TWh), and 7.9% of water or 9.9 billion imperial gallons of water in 2020, compared to normal consumption. These savings are equivalent to cutting 11.5 million metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, according to the annual report of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy on the results of the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030. The per capita level in Dubai has recorded a 23% reduction in consumption for electricity and 21% for water since 2010. The said that the Demand Side Management Strategy 2030 aims to cut 30% of electricity and water demand by 2030 to enable Dubai to become a globally leading hub in demand-side management.
