Sustainability beyond the surface: “Automation, parametric design, intelligent modelling“ – MEP MiddleEast

Sustainability has been a buzz word in the MEP industry for a while now, but there are industry veterans in the UAE who have taken an active role in delving deeper than the surface to ensure sustainability practices are integrated into building design.

With a hands-on approach to design and more than 26 years of experience in design consultancy, Cathy Christer – the director of MEP at AECOM who is a chartered building services engineer, as well as a member of both CIBSE and AHSRAE – speaks exclusively to MEP Middle East as part of the March edition of the MEP magazine,

“A key interest of mine is sustainability and I believe that it is our duty as designers to ensure that our resources are used in the best way possible. At AECOM, the environment, sustainability, and governance are at the core of our business.

“It should be the norm that the design is analysed and assessed from the initial stages to ensure the best use of energy, materials, and water throughout the whole building life cycle.”
