Dubai Ruler checks on Dh50b solar park taking shape

Stressing Dubai's commitment to generating clean energy, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently visited the massive solar park that is taking shape in the emirate.

In a tweet he posted on Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed said he checked on the progress of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Park's fourth phase, which costs Dh15 billion. This places the project's total cost at Dh50 billion, the world's largest investment in a concentrated solar power project.

“Our goal is to reach 75% clean energy for Dubai within the next 30 years, We say what we do, and do what we say,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

Once up and running the solar park — set to be largest single-site solar energy project in the world — will produce 5,000 megawatts of clean electricity and power 270,000 homes.
