UAE’s non-oil foreign trade declines 3% in Q1-20

The UAE's non-oil foreign trade recorded a 3% decrease to AED 383.4 billion during the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, compared to AED 396 billion in the same quarter of 2019.

The UAE's imports reached AED 221.5 billion in Q1-20, up 1% from AED 219.5 billion in the corresponding period of 2019, according to the latest data by the UAE's Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA).

The non-oil exports rose by 4% to AED 63.7 billion in the January-March period of 2020 from AED 60.9 billion in the year-ago period, while the re-exports declined by 15% to AED 98.2 billion from around AED 115.6 billion.

Globally, China topped the UAE's trade partners during Q1-20 with AED 42.3 billion, followed by India with AED 33.6 billion.
