Virtual Space: an Exploration of Home during the Pandemic

Mawane, a platform for collaborative experimental architecture and urban research, started Virtual Space, an online space for dialogue on topics pertaining to architecture and urban planning. Since the 30th of March, the space has taken on different topics every month on a weekly basis, providing different insights from distinguished guests. A theme that was focused on Bahrain was entitled Manazil and took on different notions of home in the country and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The topic started by Ghadeer Al-Khunaizi, architect who had recently obtained her masters from University of Minnesota, discussing parts from both her professional practice and her research on the experience of shared housing encountered by those living with their extended Families. The following discussion was with Marwa Yousif, a PhD candidate in anthropology
